About Allen, TX

Allen, Texas, is a city in Collin County, part of the Dallas–Fort Worth metroplex, located about 20 miles north of downtown Dallas. With a population of 111,551 in 2022, Allen has grown rapidly since its incorporation in 1953, driven by key developments like U.S. Route 75 and the Dallas/Fort Worth International Airport. Historically, Allen was established in 1872 by the Houston and Texas Central Railway and named after Ebenezer Allen. The city is also notable for being the site of Texas's first train robbery in 1878.
