Diagnostic Imaging

X-rays, both full body and dental, along with ultrasound, are available at Country Creek Animal Hospital and provide timely and accurate diagnoses for pets and their owners.

X-Rays

We use digital radiological equipment that allows our veterinarians and team members to view x-rays on laptop computers, review them in the room with owners, as well as share them with other veterinarians through email for peer consultation and, with veterinary specialists in radiology for quick and accurate assessment by an expert. We can also quickly convert the images to files in an email for the owner to share them with an Emergency/Critical Care/Overnight Animal Hospital, Internal Medicine or Surgical Specialist, or just to have in their own files at home for their pet’s healthcare.

Diagnostic Ultrasound

In addition to digital x-rays, Country Creek Animal Hospital also provides diagnostic ultrasound services through a Board-Certified Radiologist. Typically, ultrasounds are performed by a veterinarian that specializes in radiology/diagnostic imaging or by a licensed sonographer (images are then uploaded and then interpreted by a radiologist). These services can be performed within the comforts of a familiar setting rather than needing a referral to another facility. Ultrasound appointments need to be made in advance and pets typically need to be fasted prior to the procedure.

More On Diagnostic Imaging

Diagnostic imaging is especially helpful in times when a pet is obviously ill. However, we also perform routine images during all professional dental cleanings to evaluate the root/bone interface of each tooth and possibly diagnose ailments that would not be evident otherwise without the aid of intraoral/dental x-rays. Also, as part of a senior screen, we offer chest and abdominal radiographs at a reduced rate to screen for any early indicators of disease of the heart, lungs, spine, pelvis, internal organs of the abdomen, etc. These early changes may not always be evident in the pet’s history or on a routine physical examination. Early detection can be key in a successful patient outcome.
